Derbyshire Life has teamed up with the Scafell Hotel at Borrowdale in the Lake District, to offer one reader the chance to win a two-night hotel break for two with dinner, bed and breakfast

The Scafell Hotel The Scafell Hotel

In the pretty village of Rosthwaite in Borrowdale, the Scafell Hotel is surrounded by some of the most stunning scenery in England. Whether you wish to visit the Lake District’s many attractions, explore the beautiful fells on foot, or simply ‘get away from it all’, it is the perfect destination for a short break.

Surrounded by magnificent views, the Scafell Hotel offers country house comfort with a contemporary twist. Food plays an important role in any stay and head chef Rob Henshaw is passionate about delivering delicious, innovative food with his own take on British classics. Guests have the choice of dining from tempting menus in the attractive restaurant or the hotel’s cosy pub next door.

After a fantastic day of touring the Lake District, enjoy a relaxing night’s sleep in one of the 23 comfortable bedrooms which offer far-reaching views of the Lakeland fells. Some overlook the peaceful river whilst others have views of the landscaped gardens.

The world-famous Derbyshire-born engineer and inventor Sir Barnes Wallis was a regular visitor to the Scafell Hotel and loved to walk the fells with his family before sitting at his drawing board to work on engineering designs. One lucky winner will enjoy a two-night stay in the Barnes Wallis Suite, plus dinner in the restaurant and a hearty Cumbrian breakfast each morning.
