The Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts Department at Flint Bishop is supporting the campaign to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding that surrounds dementia.
Flint Bishop is a regional heavyweight law firm made up of some of the most talented solicitors and legal experts in the Midlands. We use our technical ability to support our clients with a wide range of legal concerns, both personally and professionally. In the last few years alone, we have won over 20 awards for our legal services and we pride ourselves in delivering a dedicated service to help our clients achieve their desired goals as quickly and efficiently as possible.
The ‘Dementia Friends’ programme is the biggest ever initiative by the Alzheimer’s Society and is designed to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the Nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition by creating more communities and businesses that are dementia-friendly and are more inclusive of people affected by dementia.
This will hopefully reduce the stigma and lack of understanding about the illness which causes many people with the condition to experience loneliness and social exclusion.
There are currently 850,000 people in the UK that are diagnosed with dementia and the team at Flint Bishop are aiming to use our reputation and dedication to help support our local community to raise awareness of dementia and to ensure that those people living with dementia feel part of their community.
We recognise that an understanding of the needs of people with dementia, and their carers, is an important part of our service and we also acknowledge the potential risks of failing to understand their needs. All of our Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts team are ‘Dementia Friends’ and we also have two ‘Dementia Friend Champions’ who regularly run information sessions in the local community.
Jo Robinson, Dementia Friends Champion & Associate at Flint Bishop Comments:
“As an Associate in the Wills, Probate, Tax & Trusts department, I regularly deal with people who have been affected by dementia – whether it be themselves or a relative. I became a ‘Dementia Friends Champion’ so that I could develop my own awareness of the illness and could provide a supportive and understanding service for all my clients.”
