Promotional Feature

Situated in the heart of beautiful Bakewell this family-owned, 80-cover restaurant is a hidden gem, and the perfect setting for any occasion, from dinner with friends or family to large parties and celebrations.

We pride ourselves on fantastic food in beautiful surroundings with exceptional service. The restaurant serves the best quality steaks and burgers; all our beef is 100% grass-fed, ensuring that it not only has great health benefits but also is as tasty and tender as it can possibly be! As part of our commitment to high-quality produce, all our chicken and pork is also free-range.

Our menu features classic steaks and a great range of burgers, alongside some more unusual options such as our signature Merchant Skewer, brought to the table still sizzling hot on handcrafted two-foot tall wrought-iron stands. We also have a fantastic range of steaks to share, including our 18oz Tomahawk and Chateaubriand steaks, both suggested for (but not limited to!) two people. Alternatively, for larger groups (or the exceptionally hungry!) why not try the 72oz rump. With a great offering for vegan and vegetarian diners too, there really is something to suit everyone.

Our focus on quality extends to our bar, and the here team love the opportunity to show off their passion and expertise with the carefully crafted drinks menu. A wide selection of wines along with the in-house-designed cocktail menu together offer options for before, during and after dinner, and the daily ‘two cocktails for £10’ deal offers the opportunity to try any and all that take your fancy!

When Sunday rolls around and you are in search of the perfect roast dinner in Bakewell, look no further than The Steak & Burger Merchant. Giant Yorkshire puddings arrive stuffed with carved topside of beef or free-range chicken and piled high with roast potatoes, a selection of seasonal vegetables and gravy.

For any sweet-lovers The Steak & Burger Merchant is worth a visit for our dessert offering alone; light and tangy homemade passionfruit cheesecake and indulgent chocolate fondue with marshmallows and fresh fruit to name but a few! Alternatively, for a real summer treat try our thick creamy American-style milkshakes, all made to order and with the option to add a shot of espresso or even your favourite spirit… who can resist chocolate and Baileys?!

If you are staying home but don’t feel like cooking, our delivery service The Pizza Merchant can help! We offer made-to-order, stone-baked pizzas with a great choice of toppings, delivered anywhere within a fifteen-minute radius of Bakewell with free delivery on orders over £20. There is even a gluten free pizza option available, and you can order drinks to accompany your delivery if you feel like wine, beer or even bubbly to go with your pizzas!

Open Wednesday to Sunday and serving food right through from midday until close, we’d love to welcome you for dinner at The Steak and Burger Merchant whatever the occasion – book your table now!
