The judges were looking for a restaurant that offers a fantastic all-round dining experience, with great food, décor and service.

Winner: Stones, Matlock

The winner; a contemporary restaurant that occupies a picture-perfect spot with lovely views over the River Derwent. The judges praised its ‘intimate and tastefully decorated dining area, beautifully presented dishes and excellent attention to detail’.

Highly commended: The Lighthouse, Boylestone

The Highly Commended award was given to a venue that ‘since opening in 2010, has made a big impact on the area’s dining scene, with its contemporary surroundings, progressive cooking and unique atmosphere.’

The shortlisted businesses were:

• Dovecote, Morley Hayes

• Darley’s, Darley Abbey

• Mileburne Restaurant, Melbourne
