Riverside Herb Centre

If you’re fortunate enough to stumble upon this ‘hidden gem’ when out exploring near Hathersage, you’re in for a treat. The centre combines a varied herb shop with a deli and café. Unwind and enjoy the riverside views in the café, before taking home fresh produce from the deli’s selection of cured meats, olives, cheese and bread. Castleton Rd, Hathersage S32 1EG


A family business run by self-taught chocolatiers David Golubows and Bridget Joyce, who decided to start their own chocolate company in Castleton after extensively travelling the world. Chocolates are handmade to order using fresh, local ingredients, with delights including Marc de Champagne truffles and sticky toffee lips. Open for group visits and chocolate experience days.

Hope Valley Ice Cream

The freshest ingredients including free-range eggs and milk from the Marsden family farm are used in the production of this delicious home-made ice-cream. Flavours include Fuschia’s Cinder Toffee and Gertrude’s Whisky & Ginger. It’s sold in many local cafes and shops and the ice-cream parlour opens at weekends. Northern Tea Merchants

Founded by Albert Pogson in 1936, this award-winning Chesterfield-based business now manufactures over 100 million tea bags and roasts 200 tonnes of coffee per year. The classical shop is an emporium of high quality teas and coffees from all over the world. A visit wouldn’t be complete without enjoying a drink in the atmospheric café. White Peak Farm Butchery

From historic premises on the Tissington Estate, proprietor Richard Hobday serves quality meat sourced from in and around the Peak District. Richard champions traditional butchery techniques and has worked in the trade for over 30 years. Products include beef, lamb, pork, venison and homemade pies.
