For the Tearoom/Café of the Year category, the judges were looking for an atmospheric venue that offered great value for money, a warm welcome, comfortable surroundings and above all, delicious homemade products.

Winner: The Woodlands, Charlesworth

The judges described the winning tearoom as: ‘An emporium of fine, fresh food, accompanied by great customer service.’ Of special note was their delicious Bakewell Tart and freshly-made scones.

The shortlisted businesses were:

• Derby Museum Coffee House

• No 6 The Square, Buxton

• Northern Tea Merchants, Chesterfield

• Village Green, Eyam

• Huntley Green, Cromford

• Lavender Tea Rooms, Bakewell

• The Bottle Kiln, Ilkeston
