Lee Meyer of Roar Fires in Ashbourne shares his top tips to help find you find an energy-efficient stove that will look great in your home.

Q: What should people look for when buying a new stove or wood burner?

A: A good starting point is to look for a stove that is Ecodesign Ready. Appliances that meet this criteria are the most clean burning on the market and comply with European air pollution targets set for 2022.

Traditional open fires lose around 80% of the heat produced up the chimney. Ecodesign Ready stoves put around 80% of the heat produced into the living space. The installation of open fires will be banned from January 2022, so now is the perfect time to consider replacing these with highly efficient, clean burning wood stoves.

Q: Where is the best place to install my new stove?

A: There’s an intrinsic link between people and fire, we’re drawn to the appeal of a real flame – a new wood burner can help you create the perfect living space to relax in and entertain guests.

As the heart of the home, you can use the new burner to heat the house, helping to reduce your monthly heating bill.

We can install your new stove into an existing fireplace or build one for you.

Most new builds are built without chimneys. This isn’t a problem as we can install a twin wall flue system and create a fireplace in most cases.

We work with local, trusted tradesmen and do all the work ourselves to make the process of buying and installing your new stove easy and stress-free.

Q: How do I care for my new stove?

A: We offer an aftercare service with all installations. Booking an annual service will ensure you keep your warranty and that your stove is working efficiently and safely.

Q: Why choose us?

A: We’ve used our expertise in the industry – over 14 years of experience – to hand-pick the best European and UK suppliers – to ensure we supply and install only the finest quality fires to homes throughout the East Midlands. Every job we undertake is unique and each client receives our undivided attention.
