This equates to 2,150 hours of dedicated nursing care and support for the terminally ill in Derbyshire. In a tribute to Lord-Lieutenant Willie Tucker, who together with Alan Woods started the event eight years ago, it was noted that it had so far raised £293,000.
For the seventh year Bowmer and Kirkland were the event's main sponsors and the competitors were fuelled by an excellent meal from Red Olive Catering. It was a close-run competition with Boxall, Brown & Jones in third place and an exciting tie-break for first between Bowmer and Kirkland and Flint Bishop LLP. Bowmer and Kirkland proved more adept at matching US capital cities to their states and took the trophy.
Quiz host Nick Britten and auctioneer Stephen Salloway ensured proceedings ran smoothly, with kindly donated auction and raffle prizes, while Clinical Nurse Manager Coreen Astle related a moving reminder of the purpose behind the evening.
Next year's event is set for 8th October - to take part email firstname.lastname@example.org. For Marie Curie, go to mariecurie.org.uk
