Proud to be one of the finest traditional agricultural shows in the country, this year's show had over 15,000 visitors
An enlarged and re-designed showground proved popular offering additional rings, more trade stands, better viewing of the livestock areas and a new members’ area. There were over 80 cattle, nearly 150 sheep and 23 Shire horses on display, while sheep dog and logging displays and the local tug-of-war attracted large crowds.
The Light Horse Section had over 150 competitors, the Poultry Section 136 classes, and the Dog Show was as popular as ever, with entertainment from AMK9 Dog Display Team. In the Centre Ring the exciting Sheep Grand National attracted an enthusiastic audience, as did the colourful Grand Parade when livestock class winners collected their trophies from the President, Mr David Brailsford. The afternoon’s BBMF flypast of the Dakota also proved a thrilling highlight. Ashover Brass Band played while children watched the Punch and Judy Show.
The 2014 Show will be held on 13th August, for details view www.ashovershow.co.uk.
