Brailsford Ploughing Match

Brailsford Ploughing Match

The 104th Brailsford and District Ploughing and Hedgecutting Society's Ploughing Match

A record crowd attended this years ploughing match at Grange Farm, Shottle, hosted by Quentin and Karen Wareing, on 7th October. Early rain meant the previously hard ground was ideal for the tractor and traditional ploughing competition, while the following finer weather encouraged spectators. The high standard of entries was as expected for one of the countys and countrys most popular ploughing events. Excellent hedgecutting, livestock, stick-making, homecrafts and horticulture classes and a wide range of 73 trade stands also provided plenty to keep visitors entertained and helped to make the event a resounding success. The date to make a note of for 2010 is 6th October when the Match will take place at Sapperton Manor Farm, Church Broughton, hosted by Colin Prince.
