The Duke of Devonshire, Professor John Coyne and Dianne Jeffrey, joined colleagues and guests as over 200 students collected awards at a ceremony in the magnificent Dome in Buxton last December.
The Duke of Devonshire, University Chancellor, Professor John Coyne, Vice-Chancellor and Chair of the Academic Board, and Dianne Jeffrey, Pro Chancellor and Chair of the Governing Council, joined colleagues and guests as over 200 students collected awards at a ceremony in the magnificent Dome in Buxton last December. The day began with a service at St Annes Church in Terrace Road, before a procession through the town led by the Burbage Brass Band back to the Devonshire Campus. Honorary Doctorates were given to Chesterfield born cricketer Geoff Miller and Gerald Beetles. In addition to a distinguished playing career, Geoff Millers dedication to his sport continues in his role of National Selector for the England and Wales Cricket Board. Gerry Beetles is executive chairman of Davis Derby, world-renowned specialists in safety and communication systems for hazardous environments.
